Return to Roundstone
There is nothing however, quite as unique as the Galway Hooker fishing boat. A sturdy vessel capable of navigating choppy waters, it is ideal to navigate the westerly winds off the coast of Ireland.
Interestingly, back in the annals of history when the Irish settlers in Boston, Massachusetts needed fishing craft, they built the hooker that they knew from home. These boats became known as 'Boston Hookers', 'Irish Cutters' or more colloquially described as 'Paddy Boats'.
You will always find a Galway Hooker at the picturesque village of Roundstone.
